Gesicht schröpfen: Das steckt hinter dem Facial Cupping Trend

Facial Cupping: What's behind the Trend

Facial cupping is a self-care ritual for firm, taut, and healthy skin that also gives you a radiant glow. This ancient Chinese beauty technique, also known as facial "Schröpfen," increases blood circulation and lymph flow, drains toxins, and provides a natural lifting effect.

But how exactly does facial cupping work? And what needs to be considered so that the skin can benefit from its many advantages? We explain all this and more in this article.

What is facial cupping?

Facial cupping is a technique where small "cups," usually made of silicone or glass, are placed on the face. These cups create a light suction on the skin by drawing air into them. The goal of the treatment is to improve blood circulation, relax facial muscles, and facilitate the drainage of metabolic products and toxins.

What are the effects of facial cupping?

In addition to a fresh complexion at the touch of a button and a relaxed feeling, facial cupping can primarily improve the blood circulation of your facial skin. But facial cupping also has other benefits.

Improved blood circulation

Improved blood flow allows nutrients and oxygen to reach skin cells more effectively, resulting in more glow and radiance. Furthermore, better blood circulation also promotes the removal of metabolic products and toxins.

Skin firming through increased collagen production

It is believed that regular cupping massage of the skin stimulates collagen production. Collagen is responsible for skin firmness. In this way, fine lines and wrinkles can be reduced, and the skin appears firmer and plumper.

Releasing tension

Facial cupping can help relax facial muscles. The suction effect releases cramped muscles and alleviates tension in the facial area.

Reduction of scars

Scars can also be reduced through regular use of facial cups. But be careful: you should never use cupping massage on inflamed or sore skin.

Overview of facial cupping effects

  • and promotes your natural glow.

The Facial Cupping Set by ruhi, €109

How to do facial cupping?

To help you also benefit from the wonderful effects of facial cupping, we will explain exactly how to proceed. We will also introduce our facial cup set.

The ruhi Facial Cups

The ruhi cups are handcrafted from high-quality glass and rubber. The rubber used, which is also used in medical products, is free of harmful substances, phthalates, and BPA and complies with the strict requirements of the European REACH regulation.

The Facial Cupping Set contains two cups in different sizes – to make application even easier on different areas of the face.

Facial Cupping Instructions

Below, we explain step-by-step how to properly use our Facial Cup Set. It is important that the cups are only used on healthy skin. If you have very sensitive skin, please consult your dermatologist to determine if cupping massage is suitable for you.

Step 1: Preparation

Cleanse your face thoroughly. Then apply a facial oil of your choice. (This step is very important, as the cup cannot glide well on your skin without facial oil).
Now squeeze the cup, let it suction onto the skin, and gently glide it from the inside out or from bottom to top.

Step 2: Eye area

Place the small cup under your eyes and glide it towards your temples.

Step 3: Cheeks and chin

Use the large cup, starting at the chin and stroking upwards towards the hairline. Move up to the mouth and nose and glide towards the ears.

Step 4: Forehead

Using the large cup, place it in the center of your forehead and stroke horizontally towards your temples.

Additional tip

The suction power of the cups can be reduced by not allowing them to suction too strongly. To avoid redness, the cups should glide quickly and not remain in one spot for too long.

How often should one do facial cupping?

As with many other beauty rituals, it is important to perform facial cupping regularly to achieve positive effects. It's important to listen to your skin: If you notice that it shows redness after application that doesn't disappear after a longer waiting period, that's a sign that you should reduce the pressure next time. Also, you shouldn't perform facial cupping too frequently. We recommend a frequency of once or twice a week.
